There is no better way to experience wild places than to put your boots on and your feet on the ground. Here are highlights of places you can go for hiking while at Naivasha West Beach Camp;
Visit this fascinating inactive volcanic mountain that overlooks the beautiful landscape of Lake Naivasha.
The otter trail along this mountain is probably the second longest trail hike in the country. It is the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain that makes it a special one. Hiking here delivers trekkers with an interesting and inspiring hike culmination into one of the best and exciting views in Kenya. Major wildlife attractions at this mountain include buffaloes, eland, lions, leopards, giraffes among many others.
This Crater is located on the northern side of Nakuru, approximately 108 km from our beach camp which is approximately 2 & half hours’ drive. It is the single largest surviving volcanic crater in the world.
While here you will get to see striking views of Lake Nakuru, Lake Borogia and the Crater itself. Hiking here is considered a moderate climb. The crater floor covers nearly 90 square kilometers.
Prepare for an approximately 5hours walk from the base of the crater to the rim and back. Your hiking tour will begin downhill to the floor of the crater, a flat stretch and then a rocky, grassy uphill to the summit. It is a pleasant trip with breath taking views full of various bird species as well as hyenas and baboons which can be spotted at the crater. However it is the long trek up that is torturous. You need to be an expert hiker to conquer it!
