Get on adventures that entail viewing wildlife in open vehicles which accommodate more than two people, an undisputable way to give you a definitive safari feeling. This is one of the most popular ways of seeing wildlife. Below are some of the places we will be sure to take you for game drive in Naivasha;
OUTDOOR
Hell’s Gate (Olkaria Georthermal)
Only a twenty-three minutes’ drive and approximately 14 kilometers away from Naivasha West Beach Camp, you will find Hell’s Gate. This magnificent place covers an area of 68.25 square km and is situated at the surroundings of Lake Naivasha. The area is pigeonholed by assorted topography and geological scenery.
Here you will experience breath taking scenery, complete with towering cliffs, gorges, rock towers, volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam, making it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa.
Familiarize yourself with a spa with naturally heated water and a great recreation spot. The pool has water with temperatures ranging from 30 Degrees Celsius to 40 Degrees Celsius. You will be able to see what natural geological formation can do to any landscape.
Hells gate creates an attractive habitat for local wildlife. A game drive here will greatly enhance your chances of spotting zebras, eland, giraffes and gazelle. If you don’t fancy drives, you can hire a bike at the gate of the park and enjoy a ride in the wild. Visitors can either use the main Elsa Gate or the alternative Olkaria Gate.
OUTDOOR
Lake Naivasha National Park
Situated on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, lies the beautiful Lake Naivasha National Park. It is located approximately 22 kilometers from our beach camp and roughly a 38 minutes’ drive from the Moi lake road & Mai Mahiu road junction
There are wonderful experiences to be enjoyed from this park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Naivasha itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges.
This place is also an ideal place for bird watching, hiking and picnic. Wild animals are mostly active in the early morning and in late afternoons. That’s why game drives here always start early in the morning or in the evening. The drive lasts from roughly 3 to 4 hours as you get to catch a close glimpse of giraffes wandering among the acacia, monkeys hopping from tree to tee, buffaloes floundering in the swamps and hippos taking a breeze at the shores of the lake. Wrap up your day with a lavish Kenyan dinner back at the hotel.
OUTDOOR
Crater Lake
Crater Lake is situated approximately 4 km from our beach camp. The green colored chalky lake is within a game sanctuary centered on a lake formed out of a dormant volcano. The amazing jade green water attracts many flamingos.
Enjoy game drives in this sanctuary to see birds of over 170 species, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and elands. While relishing your drive, you will experience buffaloes lurking in the woods. Rangers are always present to ensure your safety. You can also take a short drive to the volcanic crater and get an aerial view of the same green colored chalky lake at the Center of the crater.
